What is Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a deep process where we can explore and reflect on the feelings, situations or patterns we may be struggling with. There can be moments in life where we can feel overwhelmed by our feelings or thoughts, having a sense of not feeling ok in ourselves. Sometimes our deepest wounds that we have had to bury in order to survive can mean we can struggle to find meaning and connection in our lives. We may feel unable to find a fulfilling relationship or life path, feel troubled by traumatic experiences or a deep sense of loneliness. These hurts can show themselves in the form of depression, anxiety, addiction, outbursts of anger, isolation, OCD, suicidal thoughts or varying crisis, to name a few.
Psychotherapy can be a process of tending to these wounded parts, allowing their story to be witnessed, understood and held so they can become integrated. When we can integrate these parts of us, we are stepping towards becoming more whole as a person. Though we cannot change what has happened in our lives or our lineage, processing our hurts and moving towards a sense of wholeness paves the way for a profound journey of hopefully becoming more loving, accepting and open hearted towards ourselves and others in life. It can mean we can begin to engage with life and relationships in a deeper and more meaningful way.
